Sometimes the best memories happen when you don’t rush home. After our recent visit to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, four families decided to extend the experience and turn it into a simple overnight getaway—and it was the perfect way to slow things down and enjoy even more time together. Accommodations were left up to each family, which kept things flexible and stress-free. The next day, we met up for a relaxed outing that turned out to be just as memorable as the main event. A Morning at the Farm Our first stop was Berry Sweet Acres. We started by learning about the challenges of growing strawberries—everything from unpredictable weather to the care it takes to produce a successful crop. It was a great reminder of how much work goes into the food we often take for granted. Then it was time to head into the fields. And they were full. Rows of bright, juicy strawberries stretched out in front of us, ready to be picked. The kids (and let’s be honest—the adults too) had so much fun filling their buckets, sneaking a few bites, and just enjoying time together out in the sun. It was simple. It was hands-on. And it was one of those experiences that sticks with you. A Sweet Stop Worth the Drive
Before heading home, we made a quick stop at Parkesdale Farm Market. If you’ve never been, it’s a must. Their strawberry shortcake absolutely lives up to the hype, and the strawberry milkshakes were the perfect treat after a morning in the fields. It was a small detour—just a few minutes down the road—but completely worth it. Why This Matters What made this experience so special wasn’t just the strawberries or the treats—it was the time. Time to connect. Time to slow down. Time to just be. For families who already spend time learning together in co-ops and structured environments, these unhurried moments are just as valuable. This little overnight extension turned a great field trip into something even more meaningful. And it’s definitely something we’ll consider doing again. What a fun time this was and as we always do, we learned something about our activity. We met the owner of the farm and learned fun facts about the farms and strawberries in general. I love the time that I get to spend with my child and the time she gets to spend with other kids as they grow together. It’s a blessing!!!.
