James Hardie Pro Football Invitational | March 6-8 2026 | The Old Course at Broken Sound, Boca Raton

This volunteer opportunity offers homeschool learners in Palm Beach County a meaningful way to earn community service hours while developing important character traits through hands-on participation in a professional sporting event.

Role Overview: Junior Standard Bearer
Junior Standard Bearers walk alongside a designated playing group (PGA Tour Champions Player and/or Hall of Fame Football Player) during the tournament, carrying a sign that displays each player’s score relative to par. Learners are trusted with a visible, important responsibility and are expected to act with maturity and professionalism throughout the day.  Training will be provided and they will assisted by a professional walking scorer.

Typical responsibilities include:
  • Walking several holes with a professional playing group
  • Accurately displaying and updating player scores
  • Following directions from tournament officials and marshals
  • Practicing proper golf etiquette and situational awareness
  • Representing the event respectfully in front of players, staff, and spectators

Participation Guidelines
  • Learners ages 13 and up may volunteer independently.
  • Younger learners may participate with an accompanying adult.

My son volunteered as a Junior Sign Bearer at the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational and had the experience of a lifetime. He had the opportunity to meet many of his football idols, including Drew Brees, whom he was paired with and walked alongside for all 18 holes.

The players were incredibly engaging with him—talking about golf, football, and even asking about school—which made the experience especially meaningful.

The program was very well organized, which made me, as a parent, feel comfortable dropping him off knowing he would be guided to his post, have lunch, and be where he needed to be throughout the day.

It was an unforgettable experience for him, and he is already looking forward to volunteering again next year.
